About Islamic Souls

What is Islamic Souls?

A place to remember Muslim loved ones who have passed away. Each memorial page holds their story, photos and remembrance dates, and lets family and friends recite Al-Fatiha for them and see how many recitations have been gifted to their soul. Living people can also prepare their own page and write their will for their family.

Who is it for?

Any Muslim family, anywhere in the world. The remembrance dates, the will template and the inheritance guide follow Shia (Ja'fari) practice, and everyone is welcome.

Can I use it outside the United States?

Yes. Families in any country can create and look after pages, in eight languages. Prices are in US dollars and your bank converts the amount to your currency. Phone numbers from any country work — just start them with + and the country code. For your will, choose "Outside the United States" in the will section to see what to check where you live.

Is it connected to a masjid or a marjaʿ?

No. Islamic Souls is a remembrance service operated by Dearborn 411 LLC. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any masjid, scholar or marjaʿ. For religious rulings, please follow your own marjaʿ.

Prices

How much does it cost?

A memorial for someone who has passed away: Forever — $899, paid once. Or monthly — a $199 setup fee today, then $41 a month starting one month later.

Your own page, prepared while you're alive: Forever — $899, paid once. Or monthly — a $199 setup fee today, then $19 a month starting one month later. When the time comes, your successor pays a one-time $199 transfer fee to take over the page (you can pay it ahead instead). After the transfer, a monthly page continues at $41 a month.

Extras: 12 more photos for $12 · a 24-hour edit pass for $29 (memorial pages) · 10 contribution credits for $20, to add photos, letters or stories to someone's page. Any monthly page can switch to Forever at any time.

How can I pay?

By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Forever pages can also be paid by Zelle (US banks): send the payment with your reference in the memo and email a screenshot to info@islamicsouls.com. Zelle is confirmed by hand, so if you'd rather not wait you can pay another way and the page goes live straight away.

Can I get a refund?

Please see section 5 of our Terms. If something has gone wrong, write to us — we will always try to make it right.

Memorial pages

What does a memorial page include?

Their name (also in Arabic), dates by the Hijri and Gregorian calendars, their story, photos, resting place and majlis details; the 3rd, 7th and 40th days and the yearly anniversary; and the Al-Fatiha button with its count. Family can add memories over time, and friends can add photos, letters and stories too.

How many photos can I add?

12 photos are included with every page. If you need more, add 12 more for $12 — as many times as you like — from the Manage page.

Can I change the page later?

Yes. Edits are unlimited for the first 7 days. After that you get one free 24-hour edit day every month, started whenever you choose, or a 24-hour edit pass for $29 at any time.

Who looks after the page?

Its keepers. The person who creates it becomes a manager and can add other family members as managers (who can edit and manage keepers) or editors (who can edit). We recommend more than one, so the page never depends on one person. You can change or remove keepers at any time.

Will the memorial appear in search?

Yes. Memorial pages are listed in search so that family and friends can find them and recite Al-Fatiha.

What happens if monthly payments stop?

The page is paused, not deleted: their name, dates and main photo stay visible, and the rest is hidden. Anyone who loved them can restore the full page for $41 a month. The family stays in control and can choose to share it with the person who restored it.

Adding to someone's page

Can I add a photo, a letter or a story to a memorial?

Yes, if the family allows it. Buy contribution credits — 10 credits for $20 — and each photo, letter or story you add uses one credit. Open the memorial and tap "Add to this page". Your name is shown with what you add. Credits don't expire, and the email we send you brings them to any phone or computer.

Who decides what appears?

The family. They choose whether anyone can add, photos only, or photos, letters and stories — and whether additions wait for their approval first. If they decline something that was waiting for approval, your credit comes back. Managers can remove anything at any time, and anyone can report something inappropriate.

Can people add to my own page?

Only if you allow it. On your Manage page, under "Added by others", choose nobody, photos only, or photos and stories, and whether each addition needs approval — by you now, and by your successors who can edit later. People can only add; nobody else can change or remove what you wrote.

Preparing your own page

What does "Prepare your own" mean?

You write your own memorial page while you're alive — your story, your photos, your words for your family — and leave your will. It stays private while you live and passes to the successors you choose.

Who can see my page while I'm alive?

Anyone who searches your name sees that you've prepared a page, with your first name and last initial (for example "Mohamad B.") and the saying about death you chose. You can also show your full name — including your middle name — and your city, birth year, a photo or a short note. Everything else is private unless you choose to share it now.

Can I share some things now, while I'm alive?

Yes. On your Manage page, tick any public photo or story under "Share now". Your page then shows just those things to visitors — with no dates of passing and no Al-Fatiha button — and everything else stays private until your successors take over. Untick to stop sharing.

Can I keep adding to it?

Yes — for as long as you live, with no limits. Keep adding stories over the years, like a diary for your family. Mark any story or photo private and only your successors will see it, after your passing.

Who are my successors?

The people you choose to receive your page after your passing — as many as you like, such as all of your children. Give each one an email or a phone number; either is enough. Everyone you list can open your page and what you left for them, and you decide which of them may also edit and look after it. Successors listed with only a phone number are sent a personal link to set up their sign-in.

What happens when I pass away?

One of your successors reports your passing and confirms who they are with a code sent to the email or phone you listed for them. You are emailed (and texted, if we have your phone) a one-tap "I'm alive — cancel" link. Your page and will are released after the wait you chose — from right away (after a 24-hour hold) to three months — unless you cancel.

What if someone wrongly reports that I've passed away?

Whenever anyone reports your passing, we email you straight away with everything they gave us — their name, email, phone, relationship to you, the date and their note — so a mistake, or anyone trying to deceive, is visible to you. Sign in and tap "I'm alive — cancel this report" and nothing is released.

What is the transfer fee?

When your page is handed over, your successor pays a one-time $199 transfer fee. On a Forever page you can pay it ahead, so your successors pay nothing: tick "Pay the $199 transfer fee now" at checkout when you buy Forever, or pay it any time later from your page (Manage → "Pay the $199 transfer fee now"). Monthly pages continue at $41 a month after the transfer and can be switched to Forever at any time.

Your will (wasiyya)

Why does a will matter?
Is a written will included?

Yes, with every prepared page. Our will template, built on Shia guidance, covers your testimony of faith, executor, guardian for young children, debts, trusts, khums, zakat, missed prayers and fasts, Hajj, bequests from one-third, burial wishes and inheritance — and turns it into a PDF in your language. Print it, sign it, and upload the signed copy to your page. You can also upload a will you already have.

Is it legally valid?

The PDF records your religious will. To make it legally valid too, sign it the way the law where you live requires — in many places, in front of two adult witnesses who receive nothing under it. Choose where you live to check:

How does the inheritance guide work?

Tell it about your family — spouse, sons, daughters, parents, and if needed brothers, sisters and grandparents — and it shows each heir's share under the Qur'an and the Ja'fari school. You can include the table in your will as a guide for your executor. It is not a fatwa: your executor should confirm the shares with your marjaʿ's office.

Who can open my will?

You choose: only the successor who takes over your page, or all your successors — or make it public on your page after your passing. Until then it is encrypted and no one else can open it, including our staff.

Gifts and invitations

Can I give someone a membership?

Yes — anyone can, member or not. On the gift page, enter their name and their email, phone number or both. Pay in full (Forever, $899) or monthly ($199 setup today; then your card pays $19 a month if they prepare their own page, or $41 a month for a memorial, starting one month after they use the gift). We send them the gift by email and/or text, from you or anonymously, with your message.

I received a gift. How do I use it?

Open the link in your email or text. You choose how to use it: to prepare your own page, or to make a memorial for someone you've lost. There's nothing to pay.

Can I stop a monthly gift?

Yes, any time, from the link in your receipt. If it hasn't been used yet, it simply stops. If it's in use, the page stays open until the paid month ends and the family is told, so they can continue it themselves.

Can I just tell someone about Islamic Souls?

Yes, for free. On the gift page, under "Or simply tell someone about us", enter their email or phone number and we send them one short note from you. We don't contact them again unless they sign up.

Your account

How do I sign in?

Tap "Sign in" at the top of any page and enter your username or email and your password. Forgot your password, or never set one? Ask for a sign-in link by email — then you can set a username and password from your page.

Privacy

Can Islamic Souls staff read my private items?

No. Your will, private messages, private stories and private photos are encrypted, and our staff cannot open them. We only see what any visitor could see, plus account and payment records.

Do you sell my information?

No. We don't sell personal information. See our Privacy Policy.

Everything else

Which languages can I use?

English, Arabic, Kiswahili, Spanish, Persian, Urdu, French and Turkish — choose from the globe menu at the top of any page. What you write on a page stays exactly as you wrote it.

Can I talk to someone first?

Yes. Book a Google Meet at a time that suits you, ask to meet in person, or write to info@islamicsouls.com.
